Postage savings achievable with ZP4

Instead of paying a full 44¢ per letter (as of June 6, 2011), using barcodes generated with CASS™ software lets you qualify for bulk rates as shown below. For example, mailing 200 pieces of First-Class Mail® cost 200 x 44¢, or $88, but mailing 200 barcoded pieces with ZIP + 4® codes as "standard automation" mail at 23.7¢ per piece (in a 5-digit presort) costs $47.40, for a total savings of $40.60!
Standard Automation Letters
3.3 oz or less
Presort Regular Nonprofit
5-digit 23.7¢ 13.2¢
3-digit 25.5¢ 15.0¢
AADC 25.7¢ 15.2¢
Mixed 27.3¢ 16.8¢
The above table lists only a few of the available postal discounts. For example, submitting your bulk mail to a Sectional Center Facility Post Office™ lowers the rate to only 19.4¢ per piece for 5-digit presorted pieces and only 8.9¢ for nonprofit mail. Bulk discounts require certain quantity and sorting preparations and permits. See the Postal Service™ Domestic Mail Manual or your local Postmaster for complete details and regulations. The eLOT® CD-ROM contains all the software you need for sorting and printing "standard automation" letters or postcards for any address lists processed with CASS software.
