Residential delivery index
for residence vs. business detection

The Postal Service™ RDI™ database allows ZP4 to determine if an address is a residence or a business. Unlike the Postal Service ZIP + 4®, DPV®, DirectDPV™, LACSLink®, SuiteLink™, and eLOT® databases that Semaphore Corporation redistributes directly to customers, qualified ZP4 users must license and receive RDI data directly from the Postal Service. Contact the RDI department at 800-331-5747 to obtain a license for RDI data.

Once you receive RDI data files from the Postal Service, ZP4's installer lets you add the RDI data to the ZP4 database, and RDI output can then be generated using ZP4's "BDI" and "RDI" output fields.

RDI databases expire along with the ZIP + 4 database. Once an RDI database expires, you must purchase a current RDI database, and the corresponding ZP4 edition, to continue performing RDI lookups.
